David Eugene “Dave” Morrison, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 6, 2023 in Independence, Missouri after a 16 month battle with a lung condition.
David was born to Jesse and Vera (Hallmark) Morrison in Kansas City, Kansas on August 7, 1956. He was one of seven siblings; Debbie, Danny, David, Dale (Debbie), Dwight and Dwayne Morrison and Darin (Carol) Casteel.
David graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1974. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country for a few years then returned home and became a licensed mechanic. It was during that stage of his life that he met the love of his life, Cathy Parker. Dave and Cathy were married on September 16, 1978 and from that union came two daughters, Sissy and Tiffani. Shortly after they were married Dave pursued a career in the construction business. He worked alongside his step-father, Lloyd Casteel at L & L Construction for many years before moving on to his final and permanent career as a welder/project manager. He was a welder for Reintjes, WSI and GE for over 30 years before retirement.
After retiring he enjoyed spending his time at his farm in Hatfield, Missouri. He loved hunting and hanging his trophies on the walls, fishing, riding the four-wheeler and tinkering in the barn. Dave would also spend his time helping the local landowners and farmers. You could often find Dave relaxing, spending time on the pond enjoying the peace and tranquility.
The one thing Dave loved more than the farm was his family. He enjoyed family vacations and holidays with all the kids, which would usually end up in a wrestling match with the grandkids. He could also be found with his camcorder in hand recording the kids at soccer, volleyball and softball.
Dave was survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cathy Morrison; daughters, Sissy Cobb (Jordan) and Tiffani Wedgeworth (Robert); granddaughters, Izzi and Ellie and grandson, Leo.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Morrison; mother, Vera Casteel and step-father, Lloyd Casteel.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3-4pm on Saturday, November 18th at Crown Pointe Church in Lee’s Summit, Mo. His service will begin at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the KC Dream Factory. This organization grants dreams to Type 1 children (children with a critical or chronic illness).
