David Alan Sifuentes passed away very unexpectedly on January 21, 2024. He was 53 years old. David was born on November 28, 1970, in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Mary Lou (Lopez) Sifuentes.
David graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1989 and continued his education at Boston University. He graduated from college in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in business. David began his journey at Burns & McDonnell in 2013 and quickly made his mark within the company. With dedication and skill, he rose through the ranks to become a senior developer. Over the course of his impressive ten-year tenure with the company, David left an indelible impact on both his colleagues and projects he worked on.
One of his greatest joys was exploring the realm of paranormal activities. He enjoyed watching scary movies and embarking on chilling haunted tours and reading scary stories. His enthusiasm for all things eerie will forever be etched in the memories of those who knew him.
Beyond these thrilling interests, David enjoyed music and had performed at the Jazz Museum, reading, and astronomy. He found solace beneath the stars with his telescope. His hunger for knowledge was insatiable, as he delved deep into books on various subjects that piqued his interest. Whether it was losing himself in melodies or getting lost among galaxies, David found beauty in every moment.
David is described as goofy, quiet, inquisitive, and intelligent by those closest to him. He possessed a rare combination of qualities that endeared him to all. His gentle nature and genuine curiosity made him both approachable and respected among friends and colleagues alike. He had the ability to brighten any room and will be dearly missed.
David had been active in the community volunteering for neighborhood watch program and discussing matters of interest with city leaders.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Vicki Braton-Sifuentes; his daughter, Caitlin Sifuentes (Connor); step-sons, Brandon, Bryan and Colin Coomes; mother, Mary Lou Ford (Pete); father, Robert Sifuentes Sr. (Suzie); grandmother, Ignacia Lopez; brothers, Anthony, Robert Jr., and Ronald Sifuentes (Marsha); father-in-law, Gerald Braton Sr. (Mary); brother-in-law, Gerald Braton Jr.; sister-in-law, Kelli Oden and grandchildren, Mila Coomes and Mason Phillips.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28th from 1-2:30pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Funeral service will begin at 2:30pm. Service will be livestreamed on www.speakschapel.com. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Defenders of Wildlife in North America, an organization that was important to David.
