June Lorene Lewis Davies, 81, went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2003. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, 2003 at 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, Buckner Restoration Branch or to the Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. June was born June 3, 1922 to A.E. (Earl) and Elcy Bartholomew Lewis in their home in Lamoni, Iowa. She was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Children�s Day, 1930 in Lamoni, Iowa and graduated valedictorian from Lamoni High School in 1940. June graduated with an Associate in Arts degree from Graceland College in 1942, majoring in Home Economics. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Denver University in 1958. She earned a Master�s Degree in Elementary Education from Denver University in 1966. June married Robert R. Davies on February 25, 1942 in Cameron, Missouri. Their children are April Lynnette Davies; Beverly Jo Bono and husband, Mark; Vicki Lorene Bell and husband, Kirk; David Richard Davies and wife, Mary Sue Tabor Davies; and Andrew Harold Goldberg and wife, Barbara. Grandchildren are Heather Lynne Meador and husband, Ken; Ethan Andrew Michael; Dawn Marie Spencer and husband, Joe; Anita Jean Harvey and husband, Erik, Krista Michelle Davies; Jonathan Richard Davies and wife, Alicia; Amy Noelle Davies; and Matthew Gene Mogg. Great Grandchildren are Kenneth Justin Meador, Jordann Alexandria Meador, William Chase Meador and Victoria Tingen Meador.
June taught in the Denver, Colorado Public Schools for 25 years. She was an active member of the RLDS Buckner Restoration Branch in Buckner, Missouri. Throughout her life she often shared her talents as pianist or organist. She had a life-long love of music and children.
June was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Earl Rogene Lewis. In addition to her immediate family, June is survived by her sister, Donna Gayle Campbell of Lamoni, Iowa; younger brother, Dr. Dorman A. Lewis and wife, Amy of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law Marie Newton Lewis of Canoga Park, California; numerous nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives.
