Jimmy Davis

Jimmy H. Davis, 78, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at home. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO. Jimmy was born in a log cabin at Mt. Vernon, AR on February 4, 1934. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. Jimmy retired from the Chevrolet Plant at Leeds in 1989. He was a member of UAW Local 93. He was preceded in death by previous wife, Janice; his parents; and one brother, Bobby Davis of Grand Junction, CO. Jimmy is survived by his present wife, Katie of the home, seven step-children; Virginia Morse, Black Hawk, SD; Brenda Brewster, Spruce Pine, NC; Peggy Welch, Kansas City, KS; John Welch Jr, Van Buren, AR; Lori Reid, Burlington, KS; Tracey Wiersma, North Port, FL; and Kevin Crispin, Platte City, MO; sister, Sybil Harr Stuttgart, AR and brother Edward Davis, Conway AR; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grand children. Jimmy’s greatest love, other than his family, was fishing and growing tomatoes to share. Donations in Jimmy’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
