Kathrine "Jean" Davis

April 11, 1925 — December 18, 2020

Kathrine “Jean” Davis, of Independence, MO, a devout Christian, who was very loving, caring and helpful, went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2020. She was 95 years old. Jean was born on April 11, 1925 in Conception Jct., Missouri, to Lehman and Edith Hansen. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in Maryville, MO, in the class of 1943 and was Valedictorian. During WWII, Jean worked at a bomber plant in Kansas City, Kansas. She then went on to marry Donald Robert Davis on July 22, 1951 and two children were born to this union: Rick and Donna. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean was very family oriented and loved her grandchildren. She attended Graceland College for two years and graduated from Northwestern Missouri University with a bachelor’s degree.

Jean was a business teacher for many years and retired from the Braymer C4 School District in Braymer, MO. As a devout Christian woman, Jean was an Elder for the Community of Christ Church for over 36 years and was very involved in the church. Her family and friends knew her as one who was always there for others and visited the sick. In the winter, Jean and Donald loved spending time in Mesa, AZ, doing lots of hiking and camping in their camper. She loved to cook and bake, especially macaroon cookies and homemade bread. She also loved gardening and canning. Jean was soft-spoken yet was never shy to speak her mind. She enjoyed reading and watching “Wheel of Fortune.” Jean had so much influence on many people in her life and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Rick L. Davis (Jerri) and Donna Emslie (Richard); brother, Paul Hansen (Jeanie); 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Donald Robert Davis; parents, Lehman and Edith Hansen; half-brother, Emmet Hansen; brother, Lehman Hansen, Jr.; and sister, Mary Joyce Heaviland.

Cremation is planned with services at a later date.
