Oscar M. De Leon, of Independence, MO, a loving husband, OG Pops, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. He was 78 years old.
A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Thursday, May 19th with a funeral service following at 10am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St; Independence, MO 64055.
Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence.
Oscar was born on June 22, 1943, in Mission, TX to Blas and Concepcion (Gomez) De Leon. He was a migrant worker in Texas, he lived his young adult life in California and moved to Kansas City, working in factory’s until he realized his dreams of owning his own trucking business. He met and married Eloise Garcia and together, they made a house a home. Oscar loved truck driving, but his passion was spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Oscar leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Eloise; his children, Felix (Erica), Vincent (Angela), Mona (Ryan) Kielbowick, Albert (Lorene), Angelina De Leon, Tino (Karina) Barrasa, Oscar “Jr.” (Eve), Lea (Nick) Yzaguirre, and Andrew; grandchildren, Felix Jr. De Leon, Vincent Jr. De Leon, Audriana De Leon, Kristina Chirino, Jonathon Chirino, Veronica Abarca, Jesse Johnson, Myranda De Leon, Albert Jr. De Leon, Marissa Jordan, Joseph De Leon, Nicole De Leon, Naomi De Leon, David De Leon, Cassandra Burcham, Christina Burcham, Melinda Barassa, Mavis De Leon, Sofia Garcia, Isaac Yzaguirre, Valencia Yzaguirre, Brooklyn Yzaguirre, Daniel Howery, Samuel Gonzalez; as well as blessed with many, many great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Connie De Leon, Piedad “Patty” Gil, Vickie De Leon, Mary (David) Mata, Blas “Jr.” (Lila), Sally Salas, Richard, Robert (Perla), Samuel (Mary), and Arnold (Maricella).
He is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, Mario, Janie, and Romero, and the heartbreak of two grandchildren, Alicia Daffer and Ricky De Leon.
