John Anthony DeLeon, 60 of Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at NorthCare Hospice. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at the chapel. John was born July 18, 1961 in Springfield, MO to Juan Valenzuela and Wanda P. (Eastland) DeLeon. He was a longtime area resident, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1979 and later received his associates in business administration from Longview College. John has worked most of his career as a manager of Safeway and Food Lion grocery stores. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, baking bread and other sweets, reading, watching old westerns on TV and crafting items to donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed donating his time to scouting activities. He is survived by; 3 children, Kenda Franzo of Myrtle Beach, SC, Amber Rauls of Blue Mountain, VA and Brandon DeLeon of Fredericksburg, VA; 2 sisters, Nancy Kirtley and husband Dennis of Lee’s Summit, MO, Sherry Latham and husband Keith of Bowling Green, KY and Donna Mann and husband Gary of Sugar Creek, MO; 2 half-brothers, Mario DeLeon of North Carolina and Richard DeLeon and wife Gloria of Texas; 2 step siblings, Greg Knauff and wife Dawn and Diane Albertson and husband Jeff of Lee’s Summit, MO; 5 grandchildren, Sophia, Alyssa, Briella, Graham and Meadow, another grandchild due soon and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister, Yolonda Angers.
