Nicholas Frisbey Denham, 98, formerly of Independence, MO, peacefully passed away Monday, September 29, 2008 at Hidden Lake Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the chapel. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ Temple Lot, 200 S. River, Independence, MO 64050. Nicholas was born August 29, 1910 in Kansas City, MO, the seventh of eight children born to Charles N. and Marion O. (Frisbey) Denham. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Denham taught school for 13 years before working as an insurance auditor for Maryland Casualty. Nicholas officially retired from work in 1975 but then took on the challenge of caring for others full time. He could often be found visiting the elderly in nursing homes, taking someone to the doctor or tending to the ill. Mr. Denham was passionate about his relationship with God and the church. He is survived by his daughter Dorothy McGhee; grandson Jason Schoff and wife Megan, their son Declan; granddaughter Jennifer Buckley and husband Scott and their daughter Emma; by his sister-in-law Mildred Denham; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Nicholas was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Denham in ’01; by an infant son, David Nicholas; and by three brothers and four sisters.
