Denise Harrell, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 9, 2024, in Independence, MO. She was born on July 20, 1955, in Edmond, OK, to her loving parents William Carl and Wylma Jean Posey.
Denise had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. She graduated from Mustang High School in Mustang, OK, and went on to pursue her interests which included traveling to Branson, fishing, animals, bread baking, fried chicken making, cheering for the KC Chiefs, and enjoying the music of Pink Floyd. She met her best friend and love of her life, Rick Harrell in 1978, and they were married 4 years later in 1982.
In the company of family and friends, a visitation to celebrate Denise's life will be held on April 17, 2024, at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, MO. The visitation will begin at 6:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM. Honoring Denise's life will continue with a funeral service at 10am on Monday, April 22nd at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, OK 73003, with burial immediately following at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond. Guests are encouraged to wear tie-dyed or Chiefs apparel in honor of Denise at either location attended.
Denise will be deeply missed by her surviving family: her devoted husband of 46 years, Rick Harrell; her brother Bob Posey and his wife Tammy of Edmond, OK; her sister Karla Posey-Taylor "Jeannie" and her husband Larry of Woodward, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her Great Pyrenes dog named Molly and her cats, Black and Crazy.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Carl and Wylma Jean Posey, her sister, Karen Sue "Susie" Todd, and her beloved Great Pyrenes companion, Maggie.
Denise's warmth, kindness, and love for life will forever be cherished by all those who knew her. May she rest in peace.
