Ray Edward Dennis, 98, of Independence, MO, passed away on December 9, 2020. Ray was born on December 31, 1921 in Independence, Missouri, to Oscar and Birdie (Rudd) Dennis. He married Beulah Thomas on December 18, 1943, and of that union two children were born: Richard and Janet. On June 13, 1981, Ray married Edith Hirions. He worked as a crane operator at Standard Oil in Sugar Creek, MO for 37 years before retiring in 1980. Ray was a longtime member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church in Independence, MO and he will be dearly missed.
Ray is survived by his children, Richard Dennis (Cheryl) and Janet Horton; brother, Glenn; sister, Alice Stever; four grandchildren, Christy, Craig, David and Kevin; 7 great-grandchildren Keegan, Rachel, Madisyn, Connor, Parker, Savannah and Kylie and great-great grandson, Eli Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Birdie Dennis; wives, Beulah and Edith and brothers, James (Kenny), Donald, Lawrence and Charles (Wayne).
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the graveside service will be private for family only. He will be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery in Independence, MO.
