George John Detel

George John Detel went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2022. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. George worked for the City of Sugar Creek for over 30 years, the Metro bus company for nearly 30 years and was a volunteer fireman for the City of Sugar Creek. George had a silly fun-loving sense of humor. He loved to have fun with people with pranks, tricks and aggravating kids with his shenanigans brought him such joy. George loved his family which extended to his four-legged babies, Muggsy, Ruby & Mitzi, which he loved with all of his heart. George was preceded in death by his parents, Abe & Velma Detel; sister Sondra Dunnam; brother Sonny Detel; sister Sheila Combs & brother-in-law Dennis Lafal. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Detel; children Justin & Krista Detel; sister Judy Lafal; brother Victor Detel; brother & sister­ in-law John & Trena Hallavant; brother and sister-in-law Shawn & Delisa Borchert; sister-in-law Pamela Altabas and many nephews and nieces that he loved very much. George will truly be missed by all that knew him. A visitation to honor George will be held on Friday, July 15, from 2-4 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow, at 4 p.m., both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO.
