Carolyn Sue Deveney (Thomas)

Carolyn Sue Deveney, 74, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. She was born on August 28, 1945 in Kansas City, MO and attended Northeast High school. Carolyn married the love of her life in 1961 and they had six children together. Carolyn was Carol to some, but mom and grandma to most. She loved spending time with family, friends, and her dog Speedy. She also enjoyed visiting with long-time friends Sonny and Dottie Hogan. Carolyn loved peanut butter more than the average human, she’d eat it any way she could get it. She was independent, accepting, empathetic and loved watching the Chiefs games. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband (Hank Deveney), her mother-in-law (Francis Deveney), her mother (Kathryn Thomas), her son (Jerry Deveney) and her son (David Deveney). Carolyn is loving remembered by her daughter Melissa and husband Kenny Grigsby, daughter Carol and husband Mathew Moffitt, daughter Jennifer Deveney and Albert Castro; son Tom and wife Betty Deveney; sister Faye and husband David Clark; grandchildren, Andrea, Jeremy, Nikki, Cierra and Joey, Madeleine, Mikael, Trey, Isabella, Jacob, Alexa, Noah, Monica, Britney, Jeremy, Josh and Sabrina, Billy, Nicole, Jake and Nikki; great grandchildren Josiah, Jamison, Ieremias, Danielle, Jonathan, Jaxon, Chloe, Ean, Aria, Theo, Daisy, Ivy, Levi, Eric Jr., Journei, Zariah, Marcoz, Aluiz and Milaiah. Mother, you left us beautiful memories your love is still our guide. Although we cannot see you, you’re always by our side.
