Gary Richard Dickens

Gary R. Dickens, 69, Independence, MO passed away Nov. 3, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, Nov. 7 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment with Military Honors at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am before the Celebration at the chapel. Gary was born June 23, 1947 in Kansas City, MO and attended Southeast High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Saia Motor Freight until his retirement in 2009. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling the world with his wife. Gary is survived by his wife of forty-seven years Linda Dickens, of the home; daughters Amy House and husband Anthony, Peculiar, MO; Sarah Dickens, Dallas, TX; brothers Neal Dickens, Blue Springs, MO; Charles Dickens and wife Patti, Independence, MO; sister Dorothy Hurt, Kansas City, MO; special baby sister Cindy Winemiller, Pflugerville, TX; grandchildren Alissa, William and Oliver.
