Lonnie Lee Dickensheets, of Blue Springs, MO, a man who loved music and friends affectionately called him the “Geriatric DJ,” played his final song on February 7, 2021. He was 79 years old. Lonnie was born on June 23, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from William Chrisman High School, in the class of 1959. Lonnie married Lynn Jones on September 8, 1981, in Independence, MO. He was a great father, husband, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family and loved being a homebody. He enjoyed attending drag races with his wife, Lynn every year. As a dimension control specialist, Lonnie worked at Ford Motor Company for 36 years. Lonnie graduated from Park University with his bachelor’s degree in Social Science. He was an animal lover and advocate with a huge heart, and he will be missed dearly by so many. Lonnie is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Lynn Dickensheets; daughters, Charlyn (Jerry) Hutchins and Rachel Dickensheets; grandchildren, George Dickensheets, Allison (Juan) Ceballos, Maddison (Landon) Billock; great-grandchildren, Mariana and Miguel Ceballos and sister-in-law, Laura (Jerry) Rush. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylon and Pauline Dickensheets.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life to honor Lonnie will be held at a later date in 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requests donations to be made to the Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter in Kansas City, MO, or any local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
