Walter E. Dickerson

Walter E. “Walt” Dickerson, of Independence, MO, passed away on March 28, 2022. He was 95. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, June 18th from 1-2pm with a 2pm service following, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St.; Independence, MO 64055.
Walt was born December 12, 1926, in Council Grove, KS. He attended high school and proudly served in the US Navy from 1945 until 1946. Walt then established himself as an iron worker, having a successful career with JE Dunn. Walt was passionate about KU Jayhawk basketball, serving as their #1 fan. He will be missed.
Walt is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and siblings, Julia, Aletha, Paul, Eli, and Dick. He leaves behind his son, Gary (Connie) Dickerson of CA and step-son, Don Russell of MO; as well as, grandchildren, John, Steve, Mike, Brian, Jerry, and Ashley.
