Florence Melinda Dickinson

Florence M. Dickinson, 82, Independence, MO, passed away June 30, 2007. Services will be 10 am, Sat., July 7, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Florence was born Feb. 25, 1925 in Okemah, OK. She was a cook at the coffee shop in J.C. Penny’s at Blue Ridge Mall for 15 years until her retirement in 1988. She also worked at Mayola’s Place on 40 Hwy. During WW II she was a “Rosie the Riveter” for McDonnell-Douglas. Florence was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Stephenson; sisters Velma Hart and Ruby Pitstick; and brother Joe Crumpley. She is survived by sons Dennis Bottoms, Blue Springs, MO; Curt Dickinson, K.C., MO; Michael Dickinson, Culpeper, VA; sisters Opal Scott, Harrisonville, MO; Tola Anderson, Bakersfield, CA; brother Don Crumpley, Concordia, MO; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
