Jerry Lewis Dike, Sr., 72 of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the Veterans Administration. Jerry was born February 12, 1942 in Independence, MO to Howard Oakley and Dora Marie (Frye) Dike and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a retired veteran after having proudly served over 23 years in the US Air Force. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a member of the RLDS, Community of Christ Church and the Shriner’s. He is survived by; his loving wife, Cindy of the home; 2 sons, Jerry, Dike, Jr. of Buckner, MO and Mike Dike and wife Mary of Wilmington, NC; 2 step sons, John Gabbert of Independence, MO and Joe Swaim of Chicago, IL; 2 step daughters, Scarlett Dennett of Independence, MO and Lisa Gibbs of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Ronnie Dike of Independence, MO; a sister, Dorothy Clark of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Dike in 2012, his parents, a sister and a brother.
