Luella Charmein Dillard, 88 of Independence, MO went to see her savior on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at HCA Hospice at Centerpoint Medical Center. She touched many lives and was called Charmein by all her friends and family. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Summit Grove Community of Christ, 411 S Lee's Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64050, with burial to follow at Lobb Cemetery. Luella was born May 1, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO to Raymond R. and Lossie (Ott) Coy. She spent her early life in the St. Joseph area and graduated from Stewartsville High School. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker who enjoyed baseball and basketball, especially March Madness. She was a lover of music and really enjoyed the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Elvis. She also loved animals and was very patriotic. She was a member of the Summit Grove Community of Christ and also a long-time member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. She loved to bake and share cookies. Her cheesecake was a family favorite. She loved nature and traveling. She is survived by daughter Janelle Bode and husband Steve of Kansas City, MO and daughter Charlene Robinson and husband Jeff of Ankeny, IA; her sister, Sherlyn Kimsey of St. Joseph, MO; her brother-in-law, Jack Dillard of Independence, MO; 2 grandchildren, Christina Fulks and husband Jason, and Zachary Bode and wife Kailey; and 2 great granddaughters, Sophia and Vivian Fulks. She also is survived by nieces Sheri Robson, Leslie Walden (Chris) and Michelle Gage (Dan) and other nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Her husband, Robert Dillard; parents, Raymond and Lossie Coy; her in-laws, Charles Dillard and Clara Dillard, Clara Landis and Hugh Landis, and a niece, Felicia Dillard Esry, preceded her in death.
