ROBERT LEE DILLARD
Bob Dillard, 78, of Independence, MO went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 27, 2017. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the chapel.
Bob was born on August 9, 1938 in La Tour, MO to Charles and Clara (Bohanan) Dillard. He graduated from East High School and then served in the United States Navy. He was married to Luella “Charmein” Coy for 57 years. Over the years Bob worked for Certainteed, Lake City Ammunition, and Mill Creek School in Independence, MO. He was an ordained teacher for the RLDS Community of Christ Church, an active member and past Division Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary Division 31, a proud Eagle Scout and was a devout Christian about God and Country.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Charmein of the home; daughters Janelle Bode and husband Stephen, Charlene Robinson and husband Jeffery; brother Alvin (Jack) Dillard; grandchildren Christina Fulks and husband Jason, Zachary Bode; great-granddaughter Sophia Fulks; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Felicia Esry.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Boy Scouts of America and the American Diabetes Association.
