On May 19, 2021 our Lord and Savior called Harold Eugene Dillon home. Harold was a beloved husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Harold was born on September 27, 1926 in Crook County, WY. He was the son of Mae Grace Hartshorn and Emery Warrington Dillon. He proudly served his country in WW II. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. from 1944 – 1946. On May 22, 1953 he married the love of his life Donna Lee Barber. He attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA getting a degree in Library Science and Industrial Arts. He attended Warrensburg University in MO getting a degree in Engineering. He became a Licensed Electrician and continued his education to become a Master Electrician. Harold worked for the Missouri State Highway Department, retiring after 30 years as a Bridge Construction Engineer. He was a life long member of Community of Christ Church. Serving as an ordained Elder. He loved his community and enjoyed serving the Boy Scouts of America as a leader, Lions Club member, a facilitator for the Shepherd Center, Chaplin at the Groves Retirement Community Center, Neighborhood Council Community for Fairmount, served as a Senate Majority Leader for Silver Haired Senators, and shared many more of his passions with the community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and 7 of his siblings. Survived by his sister Lois Carleton of Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Donna Lee Dillon. His children Wayne Dillon Cherni Tucson AZ; Sharon Fletcher (Michael) of Independence, Mo ; Steven Dillon (Patty) of Grain Valley, Mo; Susan Brewer of Edgerton, KS; Shiela Butler (George) of Mesa, AZ; Sara Hart (Chuck) of Lawerence, KS; Shirley New (Gary) of Scottsdale, AZ; as well as 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was well loved and he will be greatly missed. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
A visitation to honor Harold will be held on Monday, May 24, from 9-10 a.m., with a funeral service to follow, at 10:00 a.m., both at the at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street in Independence, MO.
