Richard Dean Dixon, 85, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Richard was born June 18, 1927 in Kansas City, KS the son of Charles E. and Ida Mae (Cobb) Dixon. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. Richard retired in 1990 after 25 years as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was an Elder with the Community of Christ Church. Richard enjoyed being outdoors, camping and fishing, and was an avid Kansas City sports fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marietta Dixon of 57 years; children, Susan Brown and husband Jim, Glen Dixon and wife Patty, Joyce Ashcraft and husband Dave, Steven Dixon, and Phyllis Elliott and husband Don; 13 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters; four brothers; and his parents.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to The Groves Community Hospice.
