David A. Donahue, 64, of Independence, passed away April 25, 2017. A visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a funeral service Saturday at 10:00 a.m., both at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams St. Buckner, MO 64016. David was born July, 1st, 1952, in Omaha, NE to Wayne and Margaret (Fuller) Donahue. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wayne Sparks. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his son, David Donahue of Denver, CO; his daughters, Elizabeth Ford and her husband, Nick of Independence, and Kelli Mathis of Lone Jack; his brother, Jerry Donahue and wife, Bonnie of Independence; sister-in-law, Vicki Young and husband, Monte of Lincoln, MO; grandchildren, Erin, Ian, Austin, Riley, Tevyn, Sydney, Logan, Gavyn, and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Brendan and Ethan, as well as, many friends and extended family. David served in the Air Force Reserves from 1969 to 1992. He retired in 2002, after 32 years service with Southwestern Bell. David continued to work in various industries after retirement, one of which was as a CDL instructor at Blue Valley Technical Institute. David was always helpful to anyone in need, including his service as a volunteer firefighter and as Fire Chief in the Cole Turkey Acres volunteer fire department.
