Donna Kay (Alumbaugh) Wood

Donna K. (Alumbaugh) Wood, aged 78, passed away on January 17, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. Born on October 17, 1946, in Wellington, MO. Donna was a lifelong resident known for her vibrant social presence and humble nature. She graduated from Wellington High School and was self-employed, dedicating herself to her business with the same passion she brought to every aspect of her life.

Donna was a person who saw the best in everyone and welcomed all with open arms, reflecting her belief that family was paramount. She cherished her role as a grandmother, a title that brought her immense joy and pride. Her hobbies included crochet, tending to her garden, shopping on QVC, and spending time at the lake, often surrounded by family and friends participating in various activities.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her siblings Ross Alumbaugh, Patty Sawyer, and Max Alumbaugh; her daughter’s Donna M. Reade (Shelly), Misty R. Copeland, Julie A. Reade, and Judy L. Sawyer; and her son Jay Sawyer. Donna was also a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Martha M. Alumbaugh; her husband, Harold L. Wood Jr.; and siblings Billy Jo Goodwin, Jewel D. Reade, Charles L. Alumbaugh (John), and Ivan Wayne Alumbaugh (Pete).

A service to celebrate Donna's life will be held at the Heart of Fellowship in Buckner, MO, on February 8th, 2025, at 12pm.
