Doris "Elaine" Elefson

Doris “Elaine” Elefson, 89 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 at her residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Gospel Park Restoration Branch, 17700 MO-78 Independence, MO 64057. Elaine was born September 14, 1934 in Denver, CO to Burrell and Doris N. (Coven) Shupe. She grew up in Colorado and graduated from Lakewood High School and later attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and, most of all, spending time with her family. She spent time in River Falls, WI from 1960-87 and has lived in Independence since 1987. She was a member of the Gospel Park Restoration Branch. Survivors include; 4 children, Laurie Huseby and husband Jim of Oak Grove, MO, Beth Avery, Amy Sharier and husband Dennis and Tom Elefson and wife Peggy all of Independence, MO; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, David and Bruce Shupe, former husband, Richard “Vern” Elefson, a son, Ted Elefson and a grandson, Edward “Ted” Avery.
