Dorothy Lida Wayman

Lee's Summit

Dorothy was born on September 29, 1929, in Sedalia, Missouri to Raymond and Amanda (Eckhoff) Perriguey.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wayman; parents; two sisters, Rayenia Pulliam and Lucine Feaster; and a brother, Leroy Perriguey.  

She leaves four children, Sandy Bahrenburg (Dennis) of Blue Springs, Louise Brehm (Rod) of Lee's Summit, Susan Wayman of Independence, and Jim Wayman of Blue Springs; as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  

Dorothy was baptized into the Lutheran Church on October 27, 1929, and was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and Timothy Lutheran Church.  Dorothy was a faithful believer to the end.  

She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri and rode the street car into downtown Kansas City, where she worked until she became a homemaker.  

She and Richard met while she was visiting her brother in the hospital.  They were married on July 14, 1952, and remained faithfully devoted to each other until his death in 2002.  

She was a huge Elvis Presley fan throughout her life.  Dorothy loved flowers and had immaculate flower beds with many types of flowers.  Most days, she could be found out in the yard or tending the multitude of flowers in her yard.  Dorothy also enjoyed many forms of crafting during her life.  She was involved in church activities, which included teaching Sunday School, LWML, Altar Guild, and preparing mailers for shut ins.  

Dorothy lived in her own home until she moved to John Knox Village in 2018.
