William E. Dorrance

William E. "Bill� Dorrance, 66, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away, Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Colonial Hills congregation of the Community of Christ in Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Donations may be made to the Restoration Trail Foundation, the A.R.D.S. Foundation or to Outreach International. Bill was born April 9, 1939 in Albuquerque, NM the son of Eldon and Agnes (Soderstadt) Eickhoff. He was a graduate of William Chrisman High School in 1957 before joining the Air Force in 1959 and serving until 1963. He went to work for the U.S. Postal service in 1963 and was Post Master of the Blue Springs Post Office from 1975 until he retired in 1995. He was a former member of Lyons Club, Optimist Club and was a former board member for the Bunceton Bank in Bunceton, MO. He was also a member of the Colonial Hills Community of Christ where he was a Deacon in the priesthood, Board member of the Restoration Trail Foundation and was a former congregation finance officer. He was very involved in church history and had done volunteer work at church historical sites in Independence, MO, Nauvoo, IL and Kirtland, OH. He was married to Karen Bartlett on March 17, 1961, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 2 sons, Christopher W. Dorrance and his wife Michelle of Blue Springs and Gregory A. Dorrance and his wife Lynne of Blue Springs; 3 grandchildren, Sean Sydney and Leza. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eldean McCrorey.
