Raymond Rondal Doss, 80, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Salvation Army Independence Corp.; 14700 E. Truman Rd., Independence, MO. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Salvation Army. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Higginsville City Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army Independence Corp.
Raymond was born September 1, 1931 in Windsor, MO the son of Rondal Mason and Lillie Ida (McAllister) Doss. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War and was a fast pitch softball player while in the Air Force. Raymond was employed with Midwest Pre-coat (Superior Asphalt) and later retired from J.M. Fahey Construction Company as a heavy hauler truck driver. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters #541. Raymond’s hobbies included quail and pheasant hunting with his English pointer, Lady Gay and morel mushroom hunter with his brother. Later in life he volunteered seven years for the Salvation Army, which included relief help during hurricane Katrina.
Raymond was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Young, Agnes Main brother, Rickie Doss and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife Grace Doss of 57 years; son Ronnie Doss of Independence; foster daughter, Becky Bishop and husband Bill of Versailles; brothers, John Doss and wife Marie, Gary Doss and wife Libby; and additional aunts, nieces, nephews and family.
