James Elroy Doutt, 82, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014. Visitation will be Monday, September 15, 2014, from 1-2 pm, with the service following at 2:00 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Cemetery. James was born on January 30, 1932 in Independence, MO to William and Opal (Dodson) Doutt. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1950. James is as Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Patricia Reynolds in 1961. James growing up was an avid car nut, building several race cars. He was employed at A&P grocers for 32 years. James was the owner and operator of Doutt's Lake in the 60’s & 70’s. Later he opened Doutt's Town & Country Golf and the Ballbearing Amusement Center. James is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife Patricia Doutt; sons Kevin Doutt (Laurie), Greg Doutt (Jackie), James Doutt (Susan Mathany), and David Doutt; grandchildren Krystal Wright, Sara Doutt, Greg Doutt, Tanner Doutt, Christopher Doutt, Dakota Doutt, J.C. Doutt, Cole Doutt; great-grandchildren, Ace Doutt, Easton Doutt, Oliver Wright, and Kolten Doutt; sister, Mary Ellen Bloomquist, and Jo Ann Horn.
