Everett Drake Jr

Everett F. Drake, Jr., 71, of Independence, MO, passed away, Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m., Thursday until service time at the chapel. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Midwest Cancer Care at Centerpoint Medical Center, 19600 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64057 or to Noland Road Baptist Church, 4505 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64055. Everett was born July 21, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to Everett F. Drake, Sr. and Margaret (Johnson) Drake and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked for Burd and Fletcher Company for 45 years until he retired as vice president of sales in 2012. He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was an avid car enthusiast, especially Corvettes. He also enjoyed golf and watching sports. He was a member of Noland Road Baptist Church and the KC Corvette Association. He is survived by; his loving wife of 50 years, Catherine “Kate” of the home; 2 daughters, Debra Oswald and Susan Nicholson and husband Wendell all of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Jan Vose of Lee’s Summit, Mo and Donna McCall of Gladstone, MO; and 3 grandchildren, Donovan Oswald, Sebastian Drake and Isabella Nicholson and many other friends and family.
