Floyd E. Drake

Floyd E. Drake, 88 of Independence, passed away Fri, Jul. 7, 2006. Services will be 10:00 am, Wed. Jul 12, 2006 at the Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Indep. MO. Visitation will be 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at the Chapel. Mr. Drake was born on Jul 21, 1917 to Edward and Stella Drake in Kansas City, MO. He had been an accounting and sales manager for TWA retiring in 1969, after which he worked for the Unemployment office for the State of Missouri. Floyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed golfing, yard work, fixing lawnmowers and helping neighbors. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII have served with the 37th Fighter Squadron in Africa and Italy. Floyd is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine Drake of Independence. A son, Tom Drake and wife Shanna of Blue Springs, MO; three daughters, Kathy Harvey and husband Larkin Dowden of Independence, Jennifer Madel and husband Bernie of Kansas City, MO and Debbie Hyatt and husband Rick of Smithville, MO. One sister, Pearl Mais of Independence, MO, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three nieces. The family wishes to thank Saera Care Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their love and care of Floyd, during his illness.
