It is with great sadness that the family of Terry W. Drake announces his passing on January 11, 2019, at age 70 years. Terry was born July 20, 1948 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was the youngest ever to achieve Eagle Scout in the state of Missouri at the time and served in the US Air Force for 4 years during Vietnam. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri and became a Certified Public Accountant. He held several positions in accounting and management and spent 8 years in the US Virgin Islands as the Chief Financial Officer of the Water and Power Authority. He returned to Kansas City to be closer to his brothers and sisters. During his retirement years, he began writing and enjoyed genealogy, history, and sports. He became a Published Author of 12 books. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dresden Goldberg (Steve), Christine Drake, and Brandon Drake, his step -daughter Christy Miller and his four grand-children. Terry will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers Robert Drake (Shelia), Greg Veit (Maryetta), Dale Drake (Jesse), Merrill Drake Jr. (Vicki) and sisters Merylene Irvine (Brian), Leesa Drake, Regina OHare (Jim), Cindy Mendenhall (Richard). Terry was predeceased by his wife, Deanna, and parents Bettie Veit (Melvin) and Merrill C. Drake Sr.. A celebration of Terry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO.
