Ruth Draper, 83, Independence MO, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004, at the Rosewood Health Center. Services will be Monday, January 12, at 7:30 pm, at Walnut Gardens Community of Christ Church. Visitation will be 6:30 - 7:30 pm Monday at the Church. Entombment will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 13, at Mound Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Outreach International. Mrs. Draper was born February 3, 1920, in Wray CO, to Ethel Belle (Hampton) Willis and Victor Earl Willis. She married Maurice L. Draper on April 28, 1940. She attended Graceland College and was honored to be selected as a Crescent there. Ruth was a constant source of inspiration to her family and participated with her husband in ministry. They traveled extensively and enjoyed their many relationships with people all over the world. She loved the violin and music, was a member of the Independence Symphony, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Ruth is survived by her husband, Maurice Draper; three children, David Lee, Edward Alan, and Janette Louise; eleven grandchildren, Jeff, Charles, LeeAnn, Bree, Danica, Alyssa, Kirsten, Barron, Robin, Nanette, and Heidi; seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Astin, Jamie, Sarah, Daniel, and Matthew; two great-great-grandchildren, Angelo and Gabriel; and many loving relatives and friends.
