Dick Dreher, 72, of Kansas City, MO passed away at his home on October 3, 2019. The Memorial visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Dick was born in Maryville, MO on February 12, 1947, the only child of Richard and Mary (Thompson) Dreher. He attended Van Horn High School and was a member of the Class of 1965. In his younger days he was known locally as “Maywood Slim” for his pool playing abilities. In September 1965, Dick went to work for GSA, transferring in 1972 to Department of Commerce/NOAA. He retired as General Supply Specialist with the Finance Management Division. Dick retired after 32 years of service in 1997. After his retirement, Dick started D&M Amusement which he operated for the next 15 years. Dick was a hug fan of the Royals and Chiefs. He and his friends converted an old mobile home that came to be known as the Chief Mobile. All week long was spent planning the menu, arriving extra early and having the best tailgating around. Dick was a past President of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, North Kansas City Germanian Club, Liberty Lion’s Club and member of BNOC (Boys Night Out Club). Dick had many mottos in life, a couple of them are “There are 3 things in life, accept it, change it, or leave it” and Guds (no explanation needed!). Survivors include: wife Shari Dreher of the home; son Richard N. Dreher and his wife Lana of Blue Springs, MO; step daughter Shelley Stevens; step son Bradley Holtel; grandchildren Joshua Dreher, Tabetha Painter, Jacob Roberson, Jonathan Roberson and Justine Roberson, 2 great grandchildren Faith and Oliva Roberson; a large extended family and many friends. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice in Dick’s memory.
