Marjorie N. Drown, 87, Independence, MO passed away Nov. 11, 2018. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Nov. 16 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 am, before the service at the chapel.
Marjorie was born Feb. 16, 1931 in Independence and was a life-long resident. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1949 and was a librarian at Mid-Continent Public Library for many years. She was a member of the Community of Christ. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, quilting and working in her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by husbands Delmar Sloan and Ryla Drown; sons Michael Sloan, James Andrew Sloan, and daughter Lucinda Sloan. She is survived by sons Jared Sloan and wife Sue; Charles Sloan and wife Lissa; Daughter in law Linda Sloan all of Independence, MO; sisters Miree Smith, OK; Edrie Lu Nickerson; Kathleen Small, both of Independence, MO; grandchildren Meghan Gray and husband Jayson, Blue Springs, MO; Molly Sloan, Independence, MO; and great-grandson Andrew Gray.
