Donald Edward Dumas, 87, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, died February 25, 2006 in his home, a longtime resident of Independence, Missouri and Marysville, Michigan. Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Interment will be in Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. There will also be a memorial service at Restoration Church located on Garfield Street at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2006 in Port Huron, Michigan. Mr. Dumas was born December 30, 1918 in Marine City, Michigan the son of the late Edward and Mae Dumas. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dumas was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Helen Dumas of Independence, Missouri. Mr. Dumas is survived by his daughter, Joanne Dumas of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Karen Bull of Port Huron Michigan and Richard Dumas. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Mary Lou and Calvin Clemens and Olive Siler of Michigan; Gerry and Van Van Wormer of California; Aileen and Jim Hanson of Missouri; Fred and Dot Dumas of California and Lloyd and Ginny Dumas of California. In addition, Mr. Dumas is survived by seven grandchildren; David Bull, Brenda Maxon, both of Port Huron, Michigan; Jeff Masar and Linda Roberts of Southern Pines, North Carolina; Chad Dumas of Goodells, Michigan, Deanna Flores of Easley, South Carolina and Marci Dumas of Yale, Michigan. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dumas was an Elder of Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a graduate of Port Huron High School in Michigan and then became a machinist with Mueller Brass and Prestolite Wire Company in Port Huron, Michigan and was a member of International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. He was a retired Corporal in WWII as an Army veteran. He was a member of the Kiwanis and worked diligently for many years with Meals on Wheels by helping those less fortunate. Pallbearers for the funeral in Missouri will be Jeff Masar, Chad Dumas, Bill Derr, Tim Crede, Stephen Crede and Seth Crede. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 700 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, Missouri.
