Vera E. Duncan, 90, of Sibley, MO passed away January 4, 2005 at the Regency Care Center. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. The service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the chapel with burial at Buckner Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Vera was born August 5, 1914 in Independence, MO to James and Margaret Chiles. On November 2, 1935 she married Edward C. Duncan, Jr. and moved to Sibley where they lived all of their married life. She worked as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Sibley, MO for 27 years. Vera was a member of the Christian Church, National Association of Postmasters, Independence Queen City Quilters and Independence Calico Cutups Quilt Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Duncan, Jr. and her sister, Lucile Shrank. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Lee Smith and husband Edwin; a granddaughter, Carolyn Smith and husband Mike; great granddaughters, Ashley and Megan Speiser.
