Evelyn Dunkerley, 89, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Independence Health Care Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2005 at Northern Boulevard United Methodist Church, 1800 S. Northern, Independence, MO 64052. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church memorial fund. Evelyn was born September 16, 1915 in Shaw, Lancashire England to Fred and Alice (Hamer) Platt. She immigrated to the United States in 1948 with her husband and 3 children. Mrs. Dunkerley was active in her church. She was a charter member of the Queen City Quilters and loved to spend her spare time knitting and quilting. Evelyn was also very active in the community in PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and in giving speeches about growing up and living in England. Mrs. Dunkerley is survived by her children Sheila Lorance and husband Jim of Independence, MO, Barbara Lewis-Ingolia and husband John of Laurie, MO, and son Mel Dunkerley of Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Evelyn has joined her beloved husband of 58 years Jim Dunkerley who preceded her in death in December of 1994, and her son Keith C. Dunkerley in February of 1964.
