Alan was born on March 29, 1965, in St. Joseph, MO. He was later adopted by Dr. Delvin Duntz and Iva Jean (Myer) Duntz.
He attended Rock Port High School, excelling in football, wrestling, and track. After graduating in the class of 1983, he attended Peru State University in Peru, Nebraska with aspirations of coaching and teaching elementary school. He worked for various retail companies, with his most recent employment being at Duluth Trading Company as a receiving manager.
Alan never knew a stranger. He was the life of the party, and always happiest hosting a get-together with his friends and family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and never missed a Chiefs or a Bearcats game, Go Cats! He was the first one in the parking lot on game day, setting up the food and drinks, and making the area comfortable for his fellow fans. He enjoyed going to rock and country concerts, and had amassed an impressive collection of guitar picks and drumsticks over the years.
He loved participating in his son’s Boy Scout Troop 192 of Fairway, KS, and he was even made Honorary Scout Leader. Alan also had the honor of watching Michael graduate from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Applied Advertising and a minor in Journalism.
Alan is survived by: son, Michael Duntz and Michael's mother, Cheryl Donovan; parents, Dr. Delvin and Iva Jean Duntz; sister, Amy Harbin (husband Marcus) and her three children, Garrett McDonald (wife Christine), Lauren Naill (husband Gentry) and their daughter Ily, and Colin McDonald; cousin, Denise Duntz-Moore, her son Darek Darnell and her husband Joey; former sister-in-law, Charlene Donovan; and best friends, Gene Ross and Gene Ross, Jr.
