Savaş “John” Düvenci, 73, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home. Cremation is planned with no services. Savaş was born on November 19, 1942 in Ankara, Turkey to Sitki and Zeynep Düvenci. He was a member of the Turkish Armed Forces and attended college in Istanbul, later he earned his Bachelor’s at the University of Kansas. With his degree in civil engineering, he worked as a general contractor. He had a passion for sailing, loved art, architecture, soccer, cooking Turkish food but enjoyed being with his family, friends, and granddaughter the most. He was a founding member of the Turkish American Association and a member of the Jacomo Sailing Club. Savaş will be remembered by his wife Darvene; sons Çetin Düvenci and wife Blair of Honolulu, HI, Deniz Düvenci of Kansas City, MO, Burak Düvenci and wife Kirsten of Los Angeles, CA, John Can Düvenci of Kansas City, MO; stepson Brian LaCroix of Overland Park, KS; sister Lale Düvenci of Istanbul, Turkey; and granddaughter Brodie Düvenci. He was preceded in death by his siblings Siri Düvenci, Julide Düvenci, Sanal Düvenci, and Jale Düvenci-Kilgore.
