James Edward Dyer, 78, of Sibley, MO, died, Friday, May 14, 2004 at his home. Jim was born July 11, 1925 in Sibley, MO the son of David and Ruby (Mann) Dyer. He was married December 14, 1947 in Independence, MO to Mary Lou Firkins. He lived most of his life in the Sibley/Buckner area and was a graduate of Halls Memorial High School in Buckner in 1943. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in the Pacific arena during WWII. He was a lifetime member and past post commander of the VFW Post 8101, Buckner and a lifetime member of the Marine League, Raytown. He retired in from the Mid-American Freight Lines in 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ruby Mann Dyer and a brother, Joseph Dyer. His survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of the home; 2 sons, Timothy Dyer and wife Jane of Raytown, MO and Ted Dyer and wife Lynn of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Jill Gibson and husband George of Weatherby, MO; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 9 brothers, John Dyer of Odessa, MO, Robert Dyer of Independence, MO, Paul Dyer and Eugene Dyer both of Mulberry, AR, Franklin Dyer of Buckner, MO, Charles Dyer Jacksonville, FL, Gordon Corn of Lee�s Summit, MO, Wendell Corn of Grain Valley, MO and Russell Corn of Sibley, MO; 3 sisters, Goldie Edgmon of Jasper, AR, Mary Welch of Macks Creek, MO and Barbara Wehrili of Eldon, MO. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 17, 2004 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. Burial will be in the Six Mile Cemetery. The family will greet friends for 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday at the chapel in Buckner.
