Walter B. Eckenrod III, 46, Independence, MO died Aug. 17, 2013. A Memorial visitation will be at 4-6 pm, Friday, Aug. 23, at Englewood Church, 10628 E. Winner Rd, Independence, MO, 64052; cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc., 10580 Barkley, #400, Overland Park, KS 66212. Walter was born Dec. 20, 1966 in Maryland, NC. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1986. He was a binderman in the print shop industry. He was a member of Englewood Church and had previously belonged at the First Baptist Church of Raytown. He was past president of his neighborhood association in Raytown, took part in Under the Bridge Ministry helping feed the homeless of Independence and helped out at the Raytown Food Pantry. He also enjoyed to set up bike rodeos for kids. He loved riding bikes with his children and playing bingo with his mother. He was also known to dress up as a clown for his children’s parties. Walter was preceded in death by his father Walter B. Eckenrod II and nephew Matthew Christian Leibercht. He is survived by daughter Cassondra Eckenrod; son Walter Neldon Eckenrod, both of Kansas City, MO; mother Beverlee Joyce Branson and husband Carl, Independence, MO; sister Beverlee Joyce Wurm, Kansas City, MO; brother Kenneth John Wurm, Kansas City, KS; sister Sharon Ann Leibercht, Independence, MO brother Michael Paul Eckenrod, Cameron, MO.
