Margaret Edwards, 91, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away February 8, 2018. Margaret Ann Edwards (Shoush), of Lee’s Summit, MO died at The Wilshire at Lakewood, surrounded by her family the morning of February 8, 2018. Margaret is survived by her children, Thomas Edwards (Kathy) of Long Beach, WA, Marcia Edwards (Marv) of Broomfield, CO, Susan Wysocki (Gary) of Blue Springs, MO, and Amy Hetzel (Rick) of Kansas City, MO; her seven grandchildren, Wendi Hunt, Kari States, Scott States (Betsy), Tawni Edwards, Randi Hetzel, Micheal Hetzel (Kristen), and Amanda Bain Wysocki (John); and her ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kyle Edwards, her parents, Alma Augusta Johnson and Warren Harper Smith Shoush, her sister, Carolyn Ruth Allen, her brother, James Harper Shoush, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Edwards. Margaret was born on July 7, 1926 in Martinsburg, MO to Alma and Warren Shoush. She was the older sister to Carolyn and James. Margaret graduated from Northeast High School in 1943. On July 27, 1946, she married the love of her life, Charles Kyle Edwards in Osawatomie, KS. Margaret worked as a comtroller for Great Lakes before becoming a housewife and mother. Margaret and Kyle welcomed four children and instilled values of hard work, compassion, and loyalty they would pass on to their children. Margaret was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, first of Westminster Presbyterian and then of Trinity Presbyterian, and would often sing her hymns around the house. Margaret had a great love of music. She insisted all of her children play an instrument and tried to pass on her love of the piano to her grandchildren. Margaret sewed for Mutual Help and Church Women United. She was known for her quilting skills. She made clothes for her children and grandchildren, as well as all of their baby dolls. Margaret was famous for her “preacher’s chocolate cake,” which was a staple at every family and church gathering. Margaret passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her family and friends will greatly miss her laugh, her smile, and her kindness. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Wednesday, February 14, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Burial will be at Mt.
