Ina M. Eklund, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022. She was 80 years old.
Ina was born November 28, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, a daughter of Everett and Dorothy (Bristow) Anderson.
Ina graduated from Wichita East High School in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Marvin
Winters, and they had a daughter, Aleta. Ina worked at Beech Aircraft doing punch card data entry. At the end
of her first marriage of ten years, Ina and Aleta moved to Kansas City. At the urging of her sister, Ina attended a
party where she met Alan Eklund; they later married and lived in North Kansas City. They worked together for
many years from their home office for a school that trained personnel for airline services. Ina scheduled
appointments and she and Alan traveled across the Midwest on recruiting trips. After Alan’s passing in 2002,
Ina continued to enjoy her home and became proficient at yard work. She was always a good neighbor. Some
of her favorite activities were shopping and eating lunch with friends. Since 2016, Ina lived happily at John
Knox Village, where three other family members also resided. She loved decorating, especially for the
holidays. Ina always enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Regular phone visits with her daughter,
Aleta, were especially important to her in keeping up with her family that lived a distance away. Most recently,
Ina organized many get-togethers with friends on her hall as they worked picture puzzles. She had the heart of a
true servant and would always try to do whatever she could for others.
Ina is survived by her daughter, Aleta Edwards; grandchildren, Robert Randolph, Mary (Daniel)
Randolph, Sheila (Andrew) Patton, Elizabeth Edwards; great grandchildren, Rylee Slitar, Allyson Patton; sister,
Phylis Hancock; brother-in-law, Ordean Eklund; many extended family; special friend, Larry; beloved dog,
Bridgett; and many friends that she loved so dearly! She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Eklund;
parents, Everett and Dorothy Anderson; brother, Donald Anderson; brother-in-law, Alan Hancock; and two
sisters-in-law, Patricia Eklund and Carrol Eklund.
The family will greet guests for visitation on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, between the hours of 5-7pm; a
memorial service will take place Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10am. Both are to be held at Speaks Suburban
Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
