Independence

Independence, Missouri - Elizabeth Aquino Maliwat, a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 25, 2024. She was 79 years old.

Born on July 16, 1944, in Batangas, Philippines, Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and love. Elizabeth's impressive nursing career spanned over 50 years. She exemplified excellence in her role, guiding her team with kindness and compassion. Educated in the Philippines with a BSN, Elizabeth furthered her credentials upon arriving in the United States in October 1966. Elizabeth’s successful career is paled in comparison to the family she built and loved. Elizabeth was known for her selfless nature and willingness to help others. She embodied values of respect, love, and family throughout her life. Her warm demeanor and sound advice were always comforting to those around her. In her leisure time, Elizabeth found joy in simple pleasures by observing birds at her feeders from the kitchen window and taking care of her indoor plants. She cherished moments spent traveling the world with her family. Among Elizabeth's proudest accomplishments was her deep-rooted love for family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making it a point to connect with each of them regularly. The bonds she nurtured will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Elizabeth's passing was preceded by her parents; Pedro and Jovita Aquino, and her sisters; Rebecca Cabiles and Estrelita Panganiban. Her legacy lives on through her husband; Jaime Maliwat, her children; Oscar Maliwat, Sandra Day (Rodney), Lisa Membrere (Reginald), and Susan Membrere (Ireneo), her siblings; Perlita Aquino, Amelia Velasquez, Minerva Titus, Lourdes Graves, and Eileen Aquino, her grandchildren; Andrew, Zachary, Brandon, Kaylan, Tiffany, Waylon, Marcus, Aspen, Tristian, Daemon, Ireneo James, Drake, and Dylan, as well as her great-grandchildren; Finley, Hudson, Addison, Sebastian, Pierson, Theodore, and Cody.
