Jessie Marie Elliott, 100 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Independence, MO. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Society. Jessie was born April 16, 1916 in Independence, MO to Albert and Ella (Garland) Cookston and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed woodcarving, sewing, cake decorating, poetry and other arts and craft projects. She had also worked as a candy dipper and window designer for Russell Stover’s years ago. She was a member of the Cornerstone Congregation of the Community of Christ, PTA, Independence Sanitarium Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout leader. Survivors include; a daughter, JoAnn Schlueter of Independence, MO; a daughter in law, Laurel Elliott of Merriam, KS; a sister in law, Delia Thompson; her lifelong friend, Jeanne Muza; 6 grandchildren, Tracy Weber, Troy Kent Elliott (Suzanne), Mindy J. Austin (David), Andrew K. Schlueter (Megan), Holly Doran and Lori Rapoff (Nate); 12 great grandchildren, Ashley Ballard (Noah), Sarah Adams (Ben), Katie Golden (Nick), Samantha Austin, Jacob Austin, Alex. Austin, Harrison “Sonny” Rapoff, Ella Rapoff, Caden Schlueter, Carlie Schlueter, Hailey Joiner and Brandon Olszanski. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Elliott in 1982, a son, Harry K. ”Bo” Elliott, her parents, a brother, 3 sisters, and grandson, Bo Michael Rapoff.
