Ronald William Elliott passed away at the age of 78, early evening at his home on May 25, 2021. Ron was born October 30, 1942 in Leavenworth, Kansas to William and Mary Elliott and grew up in Potter, Kansas. Ron attended Nortonville High School where he graduated and went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Rockhurst College. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his tour of duty in the 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles"), which was one of his proudest accomplishments. Ron met the love of his life Diane Taylor in 1966 and they went on to create a family of four, with two sons, William Brian and Sean Patrick Elliott. They moved from Kansas City, Kansas to Independence, Missouri in 1976. Ron worked many jobs throughout his life, but spent the majority of his career with Farmers Insurance Agency, retiring in 1992. An excellent father and role model to his children, he always did his best to instill respect, integrity and gratitude in their daily lives. Ron loved the outdoors and hunting, fishing and camping were his favorite pastimes. He was also very active in sports in his younger years and was always there to coach his boys to winning seasons, investing many hours and always putting his family before himself. Through friendship, loyalty, and service, the man was a humble, fearless, true gentleman. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to those who were fortunate enough to have met him. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane of 55 years, his brother Robert, his sons Brian, Sean and his wife Wendy and grandchildren Elise and Declan, as well as extended family and dear friends. A visitation to honor Ronald will be held on Friday, June 4, from 1-2 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m., both at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street in Independence, MO.
