Victor Eskridge

Victor Paris Eskridge, 90, of Independence, MO, passed away, November 16, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on October 2, 1923, in Washington, IN, Victor graduated from Washington High School in 1941. He served in the US Army and fought in D-Day during WWII. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1953. He worked as a commercial artist and advertising manager for Phillips Petroleum, Bartlesville, OK; Sears and Roebuck in St. Joseph, MO, Kansas City, MO and Dallas, TX; and for Payless Cashways Lumber in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon and elder, and Kiwanis. He volunteered at the Salvation Army, was an assistant Boy Scout Leader (Troop 383), Youth Friends, The Boys and Girls Club and delivered Meals on Wheels. Victor is survived by his wife, Wilma; his daughter, Cindy Cornelius and son-in-law Ron Cornelius; his son, Kent Eskridge and daughter-in-law Laurie Smith; his daughter, Susie Larson and son-in-law Rick Larson; a brother, Robert L. Eskridge; 2 Step daughters, Deborah Bennett and husband Randy and Rebecca Moran; 5 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church 100 N. Pleasant, Independence, MO 64050 with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to the First Presbyterian Church or to the donor’s choice.
