Ethan Christopher Ratliff, a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend, passed away too soon on December 25, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on September 8, 2003, in Independence, Missouri, Ethan had a vibrant spirit and a fun-loving personality that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
From an early age, Ethan was known for his kindness and infectious laughter. He loved skateboarding showcasing his adventurous spirit. Swimming in the warm waters of summer provided him joy, as did taking peaceful walks around the lake, where he found solace amidst nature's beauty. He enjoyed playing and watching football. Ethan's love for animals was evident in the way he interacted with every creature he met. He had a remarkable ability to connect with the world around him, bringing light and warmth into the lives of those who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey. Whether it was playing with his pets or sharing stories about his adventures, he had a unique way of making others smile and appreciate the little things in life.
He is survived by his son, Messiah Ratliff; mother, Tara (Charles “Vinny”) Wilkins; father, Jeremy (Brittany Moss) Ratliff; brothers, Jacob Ratliff, Vincent Wilkins, Anthony Wilkins, Giovanni Wilkins; sister, Elliana Ratliff; grandparents, Carolyn DeWitt, Thomas DeWitt, Jr., Matthew and Linda Rittermeyer; paternal grandparents, Mark and Paula Taylor; great grandfather, Thomas DeWitt, Sr.; great grandmother, Joanne Taylor; aunts, Elyssa DeWitt, Sally Taylor; uncles, Zachary DeWitt, Lee Taylor; cousins, Emma Watkins, Ava DeWitt, Bella DeWitt, Dominick Taylor, Taylor Garcia, Gabby Ross; extended family and many dear friends, all of whom cherished his kind heart and joyful spirit. Though Ethan's time with us was far too brief, the impact he made on the lives of others is immeasurable and everlasting. He is preceded in death by his great grandmother, Anna Johanna DeWitt and paternal great grandparents, Ethan and Mary (Mudgie) Ratliff.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 3, 2025, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This gathering will honor Ethan's legacy and the love he shared with so many. As we remember him, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, laughter, and love for life, ensuring that his memory continues to inspire us all. Ethan Christopher Ratliff may have passed from this earthly realm, but he will forever remain in our hearts, a joyful beacon of light who left us far too soon.
