Doris Evans

Doris Evans, 83, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, June 6th 2013. A visitation will be 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence.
Doris was born, August 18th 1929 in Hopkins, MO to William V. and Lola (Miller) Thompson as one of five children. She graduated from Grant High School. Doris and George W. Evans married on April 4th 1948 and together raised four children. As a homemaker she kept an immaculate house. Doris loved her children as well as her flower garden. She is loved and will be missed.
She is survived by children, Evelyn E. Smith and husband Tom, James O. Evans, Vickie E. Evans and Jon P. Evans; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and family. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband George; two grandchildren; and siblings, William V. and John L. Thompson, Imogene “Emma” Woods and LaVonne Calhoon.
