George W. Evans, 86, Independence, MO passed away Monday, May 13, 2013.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
George was born February 4, 1927 in Worth County, MO the son of Hugh R. and Frankie M. (Farris) Evans. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII. George retired after 35 years from J.E. Dunn Construction as a labor foreman. He was also a member of the Labors Local Union #264 for over 50 years. George enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; two brothers and a sister.
George is survived by his loving wife, Doris of 65 years; children, Evelyn E. Smith and husband Tom, James O. Evans, Vickie E. Evans and Jon P. Evans; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers; one sister and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
